A peninsula basically serves the same purpose as the kitchen island, but it’s fixed to at least 1 wall, with access to 3 sides rather than 4 like an island. A peninsula is actually seen as an extension of the rest of the kitchen, unlike islands which are a distinct unit separate from the other worktops and cupboards.
