As a focal piece, reclaimed wood stained a dark color was used as shelving to sit in contrast with the brightness of the remainder of the kitchen, and as a means of tying the room together with the beautiful hardwood flooring. Overall, the result is a perfect backdrop to the original decorative woodwork and stained glass. This kitchen design brings both a modern feel and old world charm to inspire the soul.

A peninsula basically serves the same purpose as the kitchen island, but it’s fixed to at least 1 wall, with access to 3 sides rather than 4 like an island. A peninsula is actually seen as an extension of the rest of the kitchen, unlike islands which are a distinct unit separate from the other worktops and cupboards. Due to its’ structure, a peninsula is a great choice for kitchens with a smaller footprint, as it’s more space efficient. It’s much easier to incorporate, and homeowners can choose just how small or big they want it to be.

White cabinets have a traditional style and complements the otherwise contemporary layout. To add more texture to the décor, the table legs, tabletop, seating, and counter top are constructed from a light colored wood that flawlessly blends with the distinctive interior decoration. Thin white beams add an attention-grabbing dimension to the ceiling, while the complementary white wooden floor is impressive and bare. This is not an easy floor to maintain and requires extra care to keep its beautiful appearance. The Pewter hued stove and subway tiles create a modest industrial look. A lot of people look at the amount of floor space available in a tiny kitchen, and miss a lot of opportunities for storage by overlooking the walls. Yes, you likely already have cabinets or shelving installed, but most kitchens still have unused wall space that you could be taking advantage of. Store things on top of your cabinets if there is room between them and your ceiling. Invest in pot racks to free up cabinet space, and install backsplash shelving and utensil holders to get things like knives, spices, and strainers off of counters and out of drawers where you can find them more easily. Use the freed up space to store items you don’t currently have a home for.
