How you normally live and what you plan on using the kitchen space for, is another deciding factor between peninsulas and islands. As mentioned earlier, peninsulas generally close off a certain section of the kitchen by creating a border between the cooking space and the dining or living space. If you don’t plan on doing lots of entertaining in your kitchen and you want a bit of privacy when cooking, a peninsula is a much better choice than an island in your kitchen.

If you cook a lot, why not use a cake stand (or two) to hold key ingredients such as chocolate chips and raisins? We love this idea, and it looks absolutely wonderful in any kitchen, especially if you can find a cake stand with the same colour scheme as your kitchen.

Though it leaves a moodier and bolder finish, it still is period-appropriate and is perfect especially where black is seen to send out a too masculine or too contemporary vibe.

If you have an L-shaped kitchen, a peninsula will work best as it’ll double as a divider which conveniently separates the dinning or living area from the kitchen. Wih a peninsula, you’re also afforded lots of room for storage room and countertop space. In addition to that, if you are concerned that your kitchen is too small for seating, the peninsula allows you to utilize bar stools so that you can maximize your dining options.

If you have or are planning to install gold marble countertop or have cabinetry that spot brass hardware that is not lacquered then this hue is perfect. A peninsula basically serves the same purpose as the kitchen island, but it’s fixed to at least 1 wall, with access to 3 sides rather than 4 like an island. A peninsula is actually seen as an extension of the rest of the kitchen, unlike islands which are a distinct unit separate from the other worktops and cupboards. Due to its’ structure, a peninsula is a great choice for kitchens with a smaller footprint, as it’s more space efficient. It’s much easier to incorporate, and homeowners can choose just how small or big they want it to be.
